2011 Report

Welcome to the 39th Kununurra Agricultural Show. This year we are celebrating the Year of the Forests as well as acknowledging the celebrations of Kununurra's 50th Bithday.

One again, the Committee is excited to bring you a Show full of the old favourites - as well as continuing to introduce some new ideas we are sure will become classics.

We were thrilled to see the instant popularity of the Kimberley Cook Off, the Hay Stacking Competition and the Kimberley Cowboy Challenge - these are sure to become fixtures for many years to come! The popularity of Horses vs. Motorbikes Barrel Race has ensured its place in this year's equestrian program. And of course the Show and Shine is back for all those who love a great looking vehicle - whether it be a bike, ute, car or boat!

The Cattlemen's Dinner will once again be held in the Maggie's Shed. This is significant even for the local cattle and agricultural industry and as a result, tickets are highly sought after. We trust that those who attend this year will appreciate the attention to detail and the continuing effort to improve the evening.

We look forward to welcoming back our regular 'showies', professional entertainers, local talent, community groups and local businesses. The committee is very proud of the range of sites, pavilion exhibits and diverse local entertainment offered during show time. Each Ag Show is a unique showcasing of all our community has to offer - we are sure this year will be a credit to all involved.

This year has seen the formation of CirKAS to provide a series of circus workshops to local kids throughout the year. We feel strongly that this program offers a healthy and creative opportunity for skill building in our community and we look forward to the wonderful performances CirKas is sure to provide at the Show and beyond.

The Ag Show would not be possible without the dedication and tireless work of the Committee, their families, our Support Officer, Caretakers and army of volunteers. From cleaning sheds, weeding and painting to seeking sponsorship and writing grant applications - there is much to be done to put together the Show. We are also regularly welcoming new faces to the team who puts together one of the oldest community events in Kununurra.

Whether you're wandering through the pavilions, visiting the cattle yards or enjoying the entertainment - I know you will find something to make this year's show memorable! We look forward to see you at the Show!!
