Road Safety Commission Rescue Challenge
Teams of two
The most common road accidents in the region are single vehicles running off the road (60%). Many of these also involve drink-driving, lack of seatbelts and/or fatigue. Indigenous people are more than twice as likely to have a transport-related fatal injury than non-Indigenous, and fatality risk remains high with age, while declining among the non-Indigenous community. Initiatives involving emergency medical services are key to managing trauma on rural and remote roads, so get involved and promote your local volunteer emergency ser-vices and help us reduce road trauma in the region!
