PRESIDENTS REPORT

Welcome to the 38th Kununurra Agricultural Show. This year we are celebrating the Year of Biodiversity and joining with Girl Guides Kununurra to celebrate 100 years of Guides - as you can see from the fabulous cover for our Schedule.
You will find this year’s Schedule full of all your favourite Pavilion classes as well as some exciting new classes. We have dedicated page 8 to these new classes so check them out! Of note are the new Collection Corner classes and a Kimberley Cook Off with a celebrity chef! You will also enjoy a number of practical workshops and demonstrations across the weekend so look out for the Show Program for details.
The classic Ag Show novelty events remain and will be joined on the program by a Hay Stacking Competition and the Kimberley Cowboy Challenge. The Equestrian Section is offering an expanded program, including showjumping and the return of an old favourite – Horses vs. Motorbikes Barrel Race. And of course the Show and Shine is back for all those who love a great looking vehicle – whether it be a bike, ute, car or boat!
Last year the cattle yards were extended to a capacity of just under 200 head– thanks to Steve Craig, the Mistake Creek boys, Clint Morey and crew. We are once again hosting the Cattleman’s Dinner at the Maggie’s Shed and this year will award the inaugural Bull and Belle of the dinner.
The Society’s special guest for the Cattleman’s Dinner is Sam Bailey. Sam is a C6/C7 quadriplegic who has defied the odds to become a farmer, pilot, inspirational speaker and best selling author.  Sam will also open the Show.
We look forward to welcoming back our regular ‘showies’, professional entertainers, local talent, community groups and local businesses. The committee is very proud of the range of sites, pavilion exhibits and diverse local entertainment offered at show time. Each Ag Show is a unique showcasing of all our community has to offer – we are sure this year will be a credit to all involved.
I would like to offer a special thanks to all the mums, dads, extended families and teachers who make it possible for so many under 18’s to enter the pavilion classes, equestrian and novelty events. Getting the kids organised to participate in the show is quite an achievement these days and our Show is made so much more special thanks to your efforts – and of course thanks to the efforts and talents of the kids!!
The Ag Show would not be possible without the dedication and tireless work of the Committee, their families, our Support Officer, Caretakers and our army of volunteers. While we have not tackled a major project since the new shed/Pet Pavilion went up last year, hundreds of hours of planning and busy bees have gone into this year’s show. From cleaning sheds, weeding and painting to seeking sponsorship and writing grant applications – there is much to be done to put together the Show.
Whether it’s wandering through the pavilions, visiting the cattle yards or enjoying the entertainment – I know you will find something to make this year’s show memorable! We look forward to seeing you at the Show!!
